HUACHUMA SACRED MEDICINE PLANT RETREAT

March 29th- April 5th 2019

3 CEREMONIES in pre inka temple of chavin de huantar , PERU

"Huachuma" is a Quechua word meaning something like "without the head" - expanding our cognitive range beyond the conventional, "mental" boundaries. It is the cactus that the Spaniards named “San Pedro”.

Huachuma/ San Pedro is a sacred cactus native to the Andean mountains of Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador.,. it is one of Peru’s most sacred plants, and has been used for over 4,000 years to heal and expand consciousness. The medicine is typically prepared as a tea; pieces of the stem are boiled for a few hours, and once the liquid is cooled it is taken orally. It is known as a gentle, powerful teacher plant.

Huachuma/San Pedro is used for healing as well as mystical purposes. It’s energy opens up one’s channels, allowing one to connect deeply with oneself as well as the entire cosmos and other spiritual dimensions. San Pedro is a tool for self discovery and-awareness, helping to clear past wounds and enable a more heart-centered way of being.

It can bring limiting thoughts and beliefs to the surface of one’s consciousness; what no longer serves our highest good has the opportunity to be released (purged). Through purifying and balancing the body, mind, and spirit, it facilitates the expansion of consciousness and makes room for more freedom in our life experience. Freeing ourselves of our limitations helps us feel a greater sense of well-being, freedom, clarity, love, affinity for others, and a deeper connection with Mother Earth ( Pachamama)..Allowing us to connect with oneself and the cosmos through the heart instead of the mind.

The Ceremony

We begin during the day at the sacred basecamp (land that was part of the original temple grounds) where immense, ancient standing stones still stand there welcoming us, as well as large terraced groves of San Pedro cactus. we gather Around a massive mesa and firepit to open sacred space and drink the medicine.

We will then make our way into the sacred ancient temple of Chavin, where the Chavin culture has been known to have worked with this medicine during ceremonies.

We will cross the sacred river into the temple, interacting with nature and going into the temple’s labyrinths while working with the medicine on a process filled with interaction. The ultimate experience alone before the Lanzon, is often climactic and powerful.

From here we’ll return to our sacred basecamp in the late afternoon. A fire and warm food will be waiting for us and we will gather under the stars, and continue our journey. Expect to be in the medicine for about 8-12 hours, usually fairly strong for the first 4-5 hours, and gradually tapering off. While the experience in completely unique to each of us during the later hours there’s more opportunity to sing and share if you are called to it.

Shelter, mattresses and blankets are provided at the end of the evening. we will sleep in the huts this night and return to the village the next morning.

Ceremonies are held every other day.

We will gather the day after each ceremony in a group setting for integration. We encourage sharing ad talking about what is coming up for you, so that you can further understand and integrate the messages, and teachings in your life with more ease. We are there to support you.

( You can Opt out if you don’t feel called as well)

Huachumero-Medicine people

We to have 3 medicine people along on this journey. Our host-Huachumero (medicine man ) is an American who has lived at Chavin de Huantar and worked with huachuma for 15 years.

He is essentially a devotee of both the temple and the spirit of Huchuma. Jack carefully selects the cactus and prepares all the medicine himself. Every individual cactus plant is different, so there are subtle variations from ceremony to ceremony. Even if you have experienced huachuma before, you are likely to be surprised at the differences in these different brews, and the specific preparation brought to each ceremony.

His Wife Yngrid,a powerful Medicine Woman and Chaupin Oracle Reader, brings the feminine energy to the journey, nurturing you through your experience and making you feel safe at all times.

Music is an important element in medicine journeys. We’ll be joined by Alvaro Zumaran Chavez. Alvaro is quite well-known in Europe and South America, a master of this art who makes all his own instruments (drums, bone flutes, native Peruvian instruments ). Alvaro brings a very powerful energy into the process, and his music carries us and opens us gently into the subtle realms.

My journey into self discovery and getting clairity about what I wanted in life and who I am, came in big part from working with Sacred Medicine plants. I was born in Peru, and my roots have always called me back there year after year, asking me to reconnect with my ancestors and learn more about the medicine plants that originate from there.

I’m a lover of experiences! specially the the ones that get me closer to myself, expand my consciousness and connect me to back to my truth. I’m fascinated with the mysteries of the universe, and I know that there is more than this physical reality, that’s why I have a deep calling in my heart to share the Sacred Huachuama journey with you. I have worked with Coaching, Energy work, Craniosacral therapy, Traditional Chines Medicine (mostly acupuncture), Swedish Classic Massage for more then half my life. Taking people from stagnation-movement-into momentum.

I have a deep curiosity about life and love to grow, expand and stretch outside my known limits. To work with plant medicine for me is a way to experience your self and life from another perspective. This is why I fully open myself to the spirit of Huachuma and allow all the insights, healing and help from this medicine, so that I can continue to grow, expand, stretch and serve in the highest and best for all.
